Job summary

Boys and Girls Clubs of San Leandro is seeking a Youth Development Professional – Elementary to support after-school programs at a school-based site. This part-time, on-site role focuses on safety, inclusivity, mentorship, and youth development for middle school students in the after-school setting.

You will lead engaging activities, adapt lessons to student needs, manage daily operations, and collaborate with a team to deliver a high‑quality program.

Qualifications

• No prior youth-work experience required; entry-level role.
• Must be at least 18 years old.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
• High emotional intelligence and integrity.
• Ability to connect authentically with a diverse group of youth.
• Ability to supervise a group of youth independently.
• Patience and ability to work under pressure in emotionally charged situations.

Responsibilities

• Engaging supervision to create a safe, welcoming environment.
• Lead after-school programs promoting learning, creativity, and social development.
• Deliver curriculum-based activities while adapting lessons for elementary-aged students.
• Establish clear expectations, routines, and behavior management strategies.
• Mentor youth, encourage participation, and recognize individual strengths.
• Oversee transitions, meals, and lessons for smooth program flow.
• Collaborate with colleagues to improve activities and meet program goals.
• Be flexible and support at different sites as needed.
