Job summary

BGCSV in Contra Costa County, CA is seeking a Sub Youth Development Professional to support safe, engaging after-school programs for youth. You will mentor students, lead activities, and collaborate with families and staff in a diverse, inclusive environment.

This part-time role (up to 25 hours/week) focuses on supervision, developmental activities, and positive youth development within a supportive team at multiple sites.

Qualifications

• Experience in educational or recreational settings is preferred.
• Background in after-school programs, sports coaching, theater, or special education is desirable.
• Knowledge of childhood development principles and effective classroom management.
• First Aid certification is preferred; willingness to obtain it if not held.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to build rapport with children and families.
• Commitment to inclusivity and understanding diverse backgrounds among youth.
• DOJ and FBI background check clearance required.
• Must be 18 years of age.

Responsibilities

• Supervise youth and ensure a safe, nurturing environment.
• Facilitate activities promoting social, emotional, and physical development for a group of 20 youth.
• Mentor youth and help them navigate challenges and set goals.
• Collaborate with parents, teachers, and community organizations to support development.
• Maintain records of participation and progress in activities.
• Respond to emergencies with appropriate first aid measures when necessary.
