Job summary

YMCA of Greater Houston is hiring Youth Development Leaders to support before/after-school and day camp programs. You will create a safe, engaging environment, lead activities, and build strong relationships with children and families. The role emphasizes safety, inclusivity, and adherence to YMCA values.

The position offers part-time hours with flexible scheduling, on-site work, and opportunities for professional development and leadership growth within the organization.

Qualifications

• 18+ years old required
• High school diploma or GED
• Six months of youth experience in a licensed facility, school, church, or similar setting
• CPR/First Aid/AED and Child Abuse Prevention training (or willingness to obtain)
• Ability to plan and lead age-appropriate activities
• Experience with diverse populations
• Able to pass state/local background checks and fingerprinting
• TB test and immunizations per guidelines

Responsibilities

• Create a safe, fun, and enriching environment for youth in before/after-school and day camp programs.
• Monitor activities, headcounts, and safety according to YMCA policies; maintain supervision.
• Lead engaging activities and adapt to diverse needs and interests.
• Model YMCA values: honesty, respect, responsibility, caring, and faith.
• Support daily operations and maintain a clean, organized program space.
• Build strong relationships with children, families, school staff, and YMCA team.
