Job summary

YMCA of Greater Houston is seeking a Youth Development Leader to bring energy, creativity, and compassion to our before/after-school and day camp programs. You’ll help create a safe, fun, and enriching environment where youth feel supported, valued, and excited to learn.

This role offers a temporary $3.00 per hour stipend for eligible locations in Katy ISD, Conroe ISD, and Humble ISD, in addition to base pay.

Qualifications

• At least 18 years old.
• Six months of experience working with youth in a licensed setting.
• CPR, First Aid, AED, and Child Abuse Prevention training (or willingness to obtain).
• Ability to plan and lead age-appropriate activities.
• Experience working with diverse populations.
• Ability to pass state/local background checks and fingerprinting.
• TB test and any required immunizations per state/local guidelines.

Responsibilities

• Create a safe, fun, and enriching environment for youth in before/after-school and day camp programs.
• Monitor activities, conduct headcounts, and respond to situations using YMCA policies.
• Use positive behavior-management techniques to foster an inclusive environment.
• Lead games, projects, and hands-on learning aligned with YMCA curriculum.
• Model YMCA values: honesty, respect, responsibility, caring, and faith.
• Support daily operations and maintain a clean, safe program space.
• Build strong relationships with children, families, school staff, and YMCA teammates.
• Protect youth with vigilant supervision and proper sign-in/out procedures.
