Job summary

YMCA of Greater Houston is seeking a Youth Development Leader to support before/after school and day camp programs. You’ll foster a safe, engaging environment and inspire children daily while building strong relationships with families and staff.

You’ll bring energy, compassion, and creativity to activities, supervise youth, and model YMCA values while following state licensing and safety guidelines. This is a part-time role with scalable evening and weekend shifts.

Qualifications

• Must be 18 years or older.
• High school diploma or GED required.
• Six months of experience with youth in a licensed setting.
• CPR, First Aid, AED, and Child Abuse Prevention training (or willingness to obtain).
• Ability to plan and lead age-appropriate activities.
• Pass state/local background checks and fingerprinting.
• TB test and any required immunizations per state/local guidelines.

Responsibilities

• Create a safe, engaging, enriching environment for youth.
• Monitor activities, ensure safety, and supervise at all times.
• Guide positive behavior using supportive techniques.
• Lead games, projects, and hands-on learning from YMCA curriculum.
• Adapt activities to meet diverse needs and interests.
• Build strong relationships with children, families, school staff, and YMCA team.
• Maintain program space meeting YMCA and licensing standards.
• Follow all child-protection policies and sign-in/out procedures.
