Job summary

The YMCA of Greater Houston is hiring a Youth Development Leader for before/after-school and day camp programs in Katy, TX. You will create a safe, engaging environment and lead age-appropriate activities that support children’s growth, learning, and well-being.

Minimum 18 years old with a HS diploma, plus experience with youth in licensed settings. CPR/First Aid and background checks are required or pending. This is a part-time role with shifts aligned to ISD calendars.

Qualifications

• At least 18 years old.
• High school diploma or GED.
• Six months of experience working with youth in a licensed facility, school, church, or similar setting.
• CPR, First Aid, AED, and Child Abuse Prevention training (or willingness to obtain).
• Ability to plan and lead age-appropriate activities.
• Experience working with diverse populations.
• Ability to pass state/local background checks and fingerprinting.
• TB test and any required immunizations per state/local guidelines.

Responsibilities

• Create a safe, fun, and enriching environment in before/after-school and day camp programs.
• Monitor activities, conduct headcounts, and respond to situations using YMCA policies and training.
• Foster a welcoming, inclusive environment with positive behavior-management techniques.
• Lead activities through YMCA curriculum with adaptations for diverse needs.
• Model YMCA values in daily interactions with children and families.
• Help maintain a clean, organized, and safe program space per licensing standards.
• Build strong relationships with children, families, school staff, and the YMCA team.
