Job summary

The YMCA of Western North Carolina is seeking an entry-level Youth Development Attendant for the Woodfin YMCA in Asheville, NC. This part-time hourly position focuses on supervising children in the Youth Development Center and delivering safe, engaging childcare for members and their children, following YMCA policies.

You will maintain supervision at all times, plan age-appropriate activities, and perform light housekeeping while upholding the YMCA mission and core values.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 16 years of age or older.
• Must be working toward a high school diploma or GED.
• CPR certification must be obtained within 90 days of hire.
• Previous experience in a childcare setting is preferred.
• Ability to supervise children ages 6 weeks to 12 years.

Responsibilities

• Greets members and children enthusiastically; learn the names of children and parents.
• Performs check-in and check-out duties and procedures.
• Continuously exhibits honesty, caring, respect, responsibility, reliability, flexibility, maturity, and good decision-making skills.
• Displays a professional, courteous, and tactful demeanor at all times.
• Keeps facility safe and clean during and after programming.
• Attends and actively participates in required trainings and program development activities.
• Maintains a positive and supportive attitude to all center staff, members, volunteers, and program participants.
