Job summary

The YMCA of Southeastern NC’s Nir Family YMCA is seeking a Part-Time Childwatch Associate to support safe, engaging activities for children in a welcoming environment.

You will implement age-appropriate programs, supervise children, and partner with parents to foster belonging and achievement. This role emphasizes safety, communication, and collaboration with YMCA teammates to deliver high-quality youth programming.

Qualifications

• CPR & First Aid certifications and Child Abuse prevention training within 30 days of hire date.
• Previous experience working with children in a developmental setting preferred – minimum age of 16 is required. Must know how to change a diaper.
• Ability to implement and participate in age-appropriate/developmentally appropriate program activities for the children in Child Watch.
• Ability to develop positive, authentic relationships with people from different backgrounds.

Responsibilities

• Implements activities that develop youth within guidelines.
• Nurtures children with purposeful programming promoting achievement and belonging.
• Supervises children, space, and activities per procedures.
• Maintains a healthy, safe environment in Child Watch.
• Cultivates positive relationships; communicates with parents; engage volunteers.
• Maintains program site and equipment.
• Attends activities, staff meetings, and training.
• Disseminates concerns to supervisor immediately.
• Promotes other YMCA activities and programs.
• Follows safety practices (bathroom procedures, sign in/out).
• Performs other duties as assigned.
