Job summary

YMCA is seeking a Childcare Aide to support our childcare program at off-site locations or in the Kids' Zone at YMCA branches. You will help implement an engaging, developmentally appropriate schedule and maintain a welcoming, safe environment for children and families.

This entry-level role requires basic child care knowledge, holds CPR/First Aid certification, and a commitment to diversity and inclusion. You will attend staff meetings and trainings and partner with families to support

Qualifications

• Minimum 16 years old.
• Basic knowledge of acceptable infant and child care practices.
• Ability to work and interact with a diverse group of children and parents.
• Demonstrates initiative to plan, lead and participate in activities.
• All required online trainings must be completed before starting work, which will be compensated for accordingly.
• Familiarity with mandated reporting and steps that need to be taken.
• Certifications (must be maintained and current at all times): CPR & First Aid, Mandated Reporter, Germ Management, Health & TB clearance, TDAP/MMR vaccinations, Criminal records clearance.

Responsibilities

• Implements age-appropriate/developmentally appropriate curriculum and activities.
• Nurtures children through purposeful programming to build achievement and belonging.
• Learn and attend to special needs of children and parents' concerns.
• Supervise children, classrooms, and activities including ADA accommodations where appropriate.
• Follow policies and procedures including medical and disciplinary guidelines.
• Scan environments for hazards and take action to remove or avoid them.
• Make ongoing observations and evaluations of each child.
• Maintain program site and equipment; keep records up to date.
• Attend staff meetings and trainings; complete online trainings.
• Participate in family nights and program activities.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
