Job summary

YMCA of Metropolitan Los Angeles is seeking an Instructor for youth programs to nurture children through structured activities, fostering achievement and belonging. You will supervise groups, support positive behavior, and coordinate with parents and staff to deliver engaging curriculum.

The role requires interaction with diverse populations, compliance with safety standards, and participation in trainings.

Qualifications

Age 18 or older.
High school diploma or equivalent.
Completed semester units in CD/human services or related fields preferred.
Experience with school age children in group settings.
Ability to plan, organize, and implement age-appropriate activities.
Experience with diverse populations preferred.
Strong communication skills.
Current First Aid; CPR for Adult, Infant and Child within 60 days of hire.
Completion of child abuse prevention training before first day.
Y-USA Leader Certification preferred.
Ability to lift 30-35 lbs.

Responsibilities

Nurture children through purposeful programming focused on achievement and belonging.
Maintain close supervision and follow staff-child ratios.
Guide behavior with positive discipline and natural consequences.
Build relationships with parents and engage them as volunteers.
Deliver classes and showcase activities at session end.
Ensure safety, cleanliness, and proper record-keeping.
Attend meetings and trainings as needed.
Adhere to ADA compliance and YMCA policies.
