Job summary

YMCA of Metropolitan Los Angeles is seeking an Instructor for youth programs to foster positive relationships with children, support classroom activities, and deliver curriculum that builds achievement and belonging. You will supervise groups, coordinate with staff and parents, and ensure safety and inclusivity in all activities.

The role requires strong communication, emotional maturity, and experience with diverse populations; First Aid/CPR within 60 days and child abuse prevention training

Qualifications

• Age 18 years or older.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Previous experience working with school-age children in a group setting preferred.
• Ability to plan, organize and implement age-appropriate activities.
• Ability to develop positive relationships with people from diverse backgrounds.
• Current First Aid, and CPR (Adult, Infant, Child) within 60 days of hire.
• Completion of child abuse prevention training before first day.
• Y-USA Leader Certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Nurture children through purposeful programming focused on achievement and belonging.
• Maintain close supervision and adhere to staff-to-child ratios.
• Use positive behavior guidance with redirection and constructive discipline.
• Cultivate relationships with parents and engage them as volunteers.
• Attend meetings and trainings; follow YMCA policies and procedures.
• Demonstrate the Six Pillars of Character in all interactions.
