Job summary

The YMCA of Metropolitan Los Angeles is seeking an Instructor for Youth Programs at the North Valley Family YMCA in Porter Ranch, CA. This part-time position (up to 29 hours) supports positive youth development by building relationships with children and guiding curriculum-based activities.

You will supervise groups, plan age-appropriate classes, and foster inclusion while coordinating with parents and staff to provide a safe, nurturing program environment.

Qualifications

• AGE: eighteen years or older.
• EDUCATION: high school diploma or equivalent.
• UNITS: completed semester units in CD, human services, or related fields preferred.
• EXPERIENCE: previous experience with school age children in a group setting preferred.
• LICENSES: First Aid/CPR certifications within 60 days; child abuse prevention training.

Responsibilities

• Nurtures children through purposeful programming focused on achievement and belonging.
• Maintains close visual supervision of a group of children and follows safety ratios.
• Help children manage behavior using a positive approach with constructive discipline.
• Plan and implement classes based on topics and skill mastery; culminate in a showcase.
• Engage parents, attend events, trainings, and follow YMCA policies and procedures.
• Uphold Six Pillars of Character and YMCA Core Values in all interactions.
