Qualifications

• Equivalent of two years of college level coursework in child development or closely related field; Bachelor’s preferred.
• Minimum of a High School Diploma or equivalent with 3+ years working with delinquent or emotionally troubled youths/families.

Responsibilities

• Closely supervises residents to ensure security measures: security checks, counts, room checks, and monitoring cameras.
• Monitors residents for changes in behavior indicating potential medical, behavioral or mental health crises and alerts staff as appropriate.
• Facilitates group and individual therapeutic interventions using CBT, RBT, psychoeducation, and social skills training; utilizes trauma-informed approaches.
• Assesses behavioral/medical crisis situations and intervenes per policy; documents serious disciplinary actions for supervisor review.
• Operates and monitors electronic security and communication equipment; distributes facility keys per shift and ensures accountability.
• Organizes and directs group recreational activities and may develop programs in weight lifting, music, and other recreation.
• Documents resident behaviors daily; maintains and organizes resident files; ensures proper legal/medical information and data collection.
• Assists teachers in classrooms, helps residents with homework; intervenes in disciplinary matters as needed.
• Arranges for church services and guest speakers; monitors residents and handles disciplinary matters as necessary.
• Supervises daily housekeeping and laundry duties; covers for custodian when needed; maintains cleanliness and order.
• Performs room checks, searches for contraband, conducts safety checks, and monitors for potential self-harm.

Education

Equivalent of two years of college level coursework in child development or closely related field. Prefer a Bachelor’s Degree in a child development related field.
