Job summary

Ingham County's Youth Center is seeking a dedicated staff member to supervise residents, monitor security, and enforce safety protocols in a residential setting. The role includes facilitating therapeutic activities (CBT, RBT, psychoeducation, social skills) within a trauma-informed framework, responding to crises, and coordinating with medical and classroom staff.

Strong communication and multitasking are essential.

Qualifications

• Two years of college coursework in child development or related field; Bachelor’s preferred.
• High School Diploma with 3 years experience with delinquent or emotionally troubled youths.
• Maintain required certifications and training hours to stay current.
• Ability to meet deadlines, multitask, and work under pressure.
• Commitment to confidentiality and privacy policies.

Responsibilities

• Supervise Youth Center residents and perform security checks and counts.
• Monitor residents for behavioral/mental health crises and alert staff as needed.
• Facilitate CBT/RBT, psychoeducation, and social skills groups within a trauma-informed frame.
• Assess crisis situations; document actions and follow policy on restraints when needed.
• Operate security equipment and manage keys; monitor communications systems.
• Organize group activities and assist in classroom discipline and homework support.
• Document resident behaviors; maintain and organize resident files with required data.
• Arrange church services and guest speakers; supervise visits and communications.
• Assist with housekeeping tasks and perform duties in absence of Cook.
