Lutheran Social Services of the South, Inc. dba Upbring is seeking a Youth Care Worker for 1st shift in Brownsville, TX. You will provide direct care and supervision for Unaccompanied Children, ensuring a safe, therapeutic environment and compliance with ORR licensing standards.

The role requires bilingual English/Spanish abilities, a 21+ age minimum, and experience in child welfare. Training hours and emergency response duties are part of the position.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED equivalent.
• Must be at least 21 years of age.
• 1 year of employment in child welfare with children/adolescents.
• Bilingual in English and Spanish, based on service area.
• Able to work 12-hour shifts during influx periods.
• Ability to use situational awareness to ensure safety.
• Strong conflict resolution and de-escalation skills.
• Good verbal communication and ability to follow instructions.
• Basic computer skills including Word and Excel.

Responsabilités

• Conduct intake for incoming UC and assist with placement and orientation.
• Provide basic needs such as meals, clothing, hygiene, and housing assignments.
• Supervise UC and enforce behavior limits per plan and ORR standards.
• Perform behavior management and crisis intervention with 1:1 monitoring as needed.
• Maintain a safe, organized living space conducive to well-being.
• Document interactions and progress according to behavior plans and ORR standards.
• Assist UC with social skills and daily living activities.
• Accompany UC on outings and transport to appointments and events.
• Develop positive relationships with management, UC, and volunteers.
• Assist in evacuations during emergencies to ensure safety.
• Attend meetings and required trainings per licensing and ORR standards.
• Perform other duties and special projects as assigned.
