Job Description:
The Youth and Family Support Specialist Coordinator will lead and facilitate group activities, promote personal growth, and foster community relationships. The role requires a strong commitment to youth and family development, excellent communication skills, and a passion for positive change.
Key Responsibilities:
- Group Facilitation: Plan and execute age-appropriate activities that encourage leadership, teamwork, and personal development.
- Safe Environment: Create an inclusive space where youth feel valued and supported.
- Discussions: Lead conversations on mental health, substance abuse prevention, and conflict resolution.
- Family Literacy: Support families in developing early literacy skills and creating supportive home learning environments.
- Youth Development: Promote positive youth growth through mentoring, tutoring, and life skills training.
- Juvenile Justice: Work with youth involved in the juvenile justice system, providing re-entry and prevention services.
- Case Management: Assess needs, develop support plans, and connect families to resources.
- Counseling and Mentoring: Provide emotional support, guidance, and skill development.
- Crisis Intervention: Respond to emergencies and provide necessary support.
- Outreach and Engagement: Build community relationships and promote programs.
- Collaboration: Coordinate with agencies and professionals for comprehensive support.
- Advocacy: Represent youth and families' needs to policymakers and stakeholders.
Administrative Tasks:
- Maintain records of attendance, activities, and progress.
- Prepare reports and documentation.
- Assist in program planning and evaluation.
Qualifications and Education:
- Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent in social work, psychology, or related field (preferred).
- Passion for youth work and belief in their potential.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to create engaging group activities.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Experience in youth development and facilitation (preferred).
- Must pass Department of Child Services background checks.
