Job summary

The Y of Central Maryland is hiring a Swim Instructor 1 to teach swim lessons per YMCA guidelines and ensure participant safety. You will create a supportive environment and promote YMCA swim programs to families.

Qualifications

• Prior swim instruction experience preferred.
• Current CPR/AED, First Aid, and Oxygen Administration (O2 within 30 days of hire).
• Preferred Lifeguard certification.
• Successful completion of the Y in Central Maryland swim test.
• Flexible availability including evenings and weekends.

Responsibilities

• Teach swim lessons based on YMCA curriculum and adapt instruction to meet needs.
• Ensure safety by enforcing pool rules and supervising during lessons.
• Assess swimmer abilities and progress through levels.
• Prepare lesson areas with required equipment and store afterward.
• Maintain attendance and arrange substitutes if needed.
• Engage with participants and encourage skill development.
