Job summary

The YMCA of Metropolitan Washington is seeking an After School Program Leader – School Age Programs to join our KIPP DC sites. This part-time role supports before and after school activities, coordinates with families, and delivers engaging activities aligned with the School Age Curriculum.

You will supervise daily activities, ensure safety, and help implement age-appropriate lessons while maintaining professional communication with families and staff during the school year.

Qualifications

  • Must be at least 18 years old with a High School Diploma or GED.
  • Ability to obtain a CDA within 18 months of employment.
  • CPR and First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain).
  • Documentation of physical exam and TB test.
  • Ability to pass required background screenings.
  • Positive, creative attitude and the ability to relate to children, families, and school staff.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with oversight of daily program activities and communication with families.
  • Support and deliver age-appropriate lesson plans.
  • Establish structure, routines, and behavior expectations for children.
  • Ensure the safety and well-being of all participants, including emergency procedures.
  • Communicate routinely and professionally with parents and families.
  • Participate in events and family engagement activities throughout the year.

Location: YMCA at KIPP DC (various locations)
Compensation: $17.95-$21.00 per hour
Schedule: Part-Time | Mornings/Evening Hours | School Year

About the Position

We are seeking fun, enthusiastic, and committed Program Leaders to support our before and after school programs. Program Leaders assist the Site Director with daily program operations and help plan and deliver engaging activities that align with the YMCA School Age Curriculum.

You’ll have the opportunity to lead activities that spark creativity, encourage teamwork, support learning, and contribute to a safe, welcoming environment for all children.

What You Bring
  • Must be at least 18 years old with a High School Diploma or GED.
  • Ability to obtain a Child Development Associate (CDA) within 18 months of employment.
  • CPR and First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain).
  • Documentation of physical exam and TB test.
  • Ability to pass required background screenings.
  • Positive, creative attitude and the ability to relate to children, families, and school staff.
Schedule:
  • Monday-Friday
  • Before Care6:30am-8:00am and or
  • After Care2:30pm-6:30pm
