Job summary

The YMCA of Metropolitan Washington is hiring dedicated Group Leaders for our School Age Child Care program in Middleburg. This part-time role features morning and after-school shifts with responsibilities that foster children’s academic and social growth.

You will supervise activities, ensure safety, plan daily lessons, and communicate with families and staff. CPR/First Aid certification is preferred, with benefits like membership and retirement plans.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required; relevant coursework or degree preferred.
• Experience working with elementary–middle aged children in a school or childcare setting.
• Strong interpersonal and behavior management skills.
• CPR/First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain).
• Experience fostering an environment for children of all abilities is valued.

Responsibilities

• Supervise and engage school-age children in recreational, academic, and enrichment activities.
• Create a safe and stimulating environment for all participants.
• Plan and implement daily lessons and activities that support social-emotional and academic growth.
• Provide guidance and positive behavior support.
• Maintain communication with families and program staff.
• Ensure the safety and well-being of all children at all times.

Compensation: $15 per hour
Schedule: Part-Time | Mornings/Evening Hours | School Year
