Job summary

The YMCA at Sterling in Sterling, VA is hiring a Part-Time Group Leader for our School Age Child Care program. You will supervise and engage school-age children in activities, ensuring a safe, supportive, and engaging after-school environment.

This role emphasizes planning daily lessons that promote social-emotional and academic growth, with before/after care shifts. CPR/First Aid certification is preferred, and a strong focus on inclusive care is required.

Qualifications

• Experience working with elementary-to-middle-aged children in childcare or school settings.
• High school diploma or GED required; relevant coursework or degree preferred.
• CPR/First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain).

Responsibilities

• Supervise and engage school-age children in recreational, academic, and enrichment activities.
• Create a safe and stimulating environment for all participants.
• Plan and implement daily lessons and activities that support social-emotional and academic growth.
• Provide guidance and positive behavior support.
• Maintain communication with families and program staff.
• Ensure the safety and well-being of all children at all times.

Compensation: $15 per hour
Schedule: Part-Time | Mornings/Evening Hours | School Year

• Strong interpersonal and behavior management skills
• CPR/First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain)
• Experience fostering an environment for children of all abilities is valued.

Schedule:

• Monday-Friday
• Before Care 6:30am-8:00am and or
• After Care 2:30pm-6:30pm
