Job summary

FedEx in Charlotte, NC is seeking a dedicated package handler to move trailers in the yard and assist with loading and unloading packages for delivery. You will work in a fast-paced environment, following safety procedures and communicating effectively with the team.

No formal education required.
Six months of experience as a package handler or switching/CDL operator preferred.
Must maintain a Department of Transportation (DOT) file and follow safety methods.

Responsibilities

Performs trailer switches and moves a parked trailer from the yard to a load/unload door or from a door to the yard.
Communicates with management to coordinate trailer movements in the yard.
Documents trailer moves using Yard Management System or switcher cards.
Performs pre- and post-trip inspections on switcher equipment.
Loads and unloads packages onto or from delivery vehicles, trailers, and conveyor systems.
Sorts packages by scanning labels and memorizing information for correct routing.
Works in hot/cold temperatures and in environments with fumes or loud noise.
