What you’ll do as a Yard Laborer
- Participate in all phases of underground construction, including loading, driving, delivery, digging, removal, and placement of various construction materials and equipment
- Assist the Inventory Specialist with staging materials for specific jobs
- Help maintain the location’s inventory, reconcile physical inventory, and offload/load trucks
- Track, receive, and verify new material shipments; coordinate handling and storage upon arrival
- Maintain organization of inventory and a clean, orderly shop and yard area
- Assist with inventory counts
- Maintain safe working habits and conditions according to all regulations, procedures, and policies
- Perform other duties as assigned
What you’ll need
- Be 18 years of age or older
- Authorization to work in the United States
- Ability to read and understand instructions, correspondence, and memos
- Ability to write simple correspondence
- Effective communication skills for one-on-one and small group situations
- Basic math skills (adding, subtracting, multiplying, dividing)
- Ability to understand and carry out written, oral, or diagrammed instructions
- Problem-solving skills involving multiple variables
- Knowledge of internet software, databases, spreadsheets, and word processing
- Current DOT health card
- Forklift certification
- Valid driver’s license with a clean record; Class A preferred
- Travel may be required
Physical abilities & exposures
The work environment and physical demands include:
- Wearing personal protective equipment
- Sitting, standing, or walking frequently
- Standing on concrete surfaces regularly
- Kneeling, squatting, bending, and twisting on concrete
- Using hearing and sight frequently
- Occasional work in adverse weather conditions
- Lifting up to 50 lbs regularly and up to 75 lbs occasionally
- Working in a loud environment
