What you’ll do as a Yard Laborer

• Participate in all phases of underground construction, including loading, driving, delivery, digging, removal, and placement of various construction materials and equipment
• Assist the Inventory Specialist with staging materials for specific jobs
• Help maintain the location’s inventory, reconcile physical inventory, and offload/load trucks
• Track, receive, and verify new material shipments; coordinate handling and storage upon arrival
• Maintain organization of inventory and a clean, orderly shop and yard area
• Assist with inventory counts
• Maintain safe working habits and conditions according to all regulations, procedures, and policies
• Perform other duties as assigned

What you’ll need

• Be 18 years of age or older
• Authorization to work in the United States
• Ability to read and understand instructions, correspondence, and memos
• Ability to write simple correspondence
• Effective communication skills for one-on-one and small group situations
• Basic math skills (adding, subtracting, multiplying, dividing)
• Ability to understand and carry out written, oral, or diagrammed instructions
• Problem-solving skills involving multiple variables
• Knowledge of internet software, databases, spreadsheets, and word processing
• Current DOT health card
• Forklift certification
• Valid driver’s license with a clean record; Class A preferred
• Travel may be required

Physical abilities & exposures

The work environment and physical demands include:

• Wearing personal protective equipment
• Sitting, standing, or walking frequently
• Standing on concrete surfaces regularly
• Kneeling, squatting, bending, and twisting on concrete
• Using hearing and sight frequently
• Occasional work in adverse weather conditions
• Lifting up to 50 lbs regularly and up to 75 lbs occasionally
• Working in a loud environment
