Job summary

McLane Company, Inc. is seeking a Yard Driver to move trailers at the distribution center and assist in preparing trailers for shipping. Safety-focused and reliable team member will operate yard tractors and inspect trailers for proper loading and condition.

CDL A is required, with prior driving experience preferred. Earn $31.55 per hour with comprehensive benefits and paid time off after eligibility, plus opportunities for career growth within a nationwide logistics network.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.
• 2 years related driving experience is desired.
• 100,000-mile tractor-trailer experience is desired.
• Class A commercial driver’s license (CDL) required.
• Accident-free driving record for the past three years desired.
• Must be able to read and comprehend labels, instructions, bill of lading.
• Able to perform mathematical calculations to verify quantities.

Responsibilities

• Drive tractor, maneuvering into position to attach trailer and handle lines to secure.
• Clean and spot trailers to specified doors or lot locations.
• Inspect trailers for defects, pre/post trip and submit inspection report indicating condition.
• Inspect loaded trailers to ensure product is secure for undamaged transport and refrigeration unit is functioning; report issues.
• Drive tractor-trailer within yard or short distances outside yard, with knowledge of regulations and maneuvering skills.
• Meet this position’s physical demands.
• Ability and willingness to load/unload and/or deliver all products may be ordered by customers.
• Other duties as assigned.
