Job summary

Estes Express is seeking a driver trainee to safely move tractors and trailers, load and unload freight, and secure it for transport. You will work in the yard and dock, operating forklifts and pallet jacks as needed, while following safety rules and FMCSA requirements.

The role requires a high school diploma or GED, a valid driver’s license with the potential to obtain a CDL learner permit, and a clean MVR. Training is provided by Estes.

Qualifications

• HS diploma or GED required.
• Must be able to pursue the driver trainee program.
• Must be 21+ years old per FMCSA regulations.
• Clean driving record with acceptable MVR.
• Must obtain CDL Learner's permit when accepted to driving school.
• Must enroll in Estes driver training and complete requirements.

Responsibilities

• Safely handle and maneuver tractors, trailers, and other equipment in yard operations.
• Cube, load, and unload freight using forklift, pallet jack, or hand truck.
• Secure freight to prevent damage or shifting during transit.
• Record the condition of freight arriving at the service center.
• Perform pre-shift and post-shift inspections of yard and dock equipment.
• Set up and break down trailers and hook trailers safely.
• Ensure pup trailers have tilt bars lowered prior to loading.
• Operate landing gear and monitor yard for unsafe drivers or non-employees.
• Work outdoors in varying weather conditions and meet attendance expectations.
