Job summary

Kinoped is building the VR side of their robotics platform in Sacramento. You will create immersive VR scenes that guide users through exercises while exchanging live data with the machine in real time.

The role blends interaction design with hardware integration, focusing on how scenes feel and how they talk to the Kinoped robot. Collaboration with hardware engineers is essential to ensure seamless UX and robust data exchange.

Qualifications

• Proficiency with Unity (C#) or Unreal (C++/Blueprints).
• Experience developing for VR headsets (e.g., Meta Quest).
• Experience integrating external real-time data into a scene over sockets or messaging.
• Strong grasp of 3D math: transforms, coordinate frames, and vectors.

Responsibilities

• Develop VR scenes that guide exercises and communicate with robotics in real time.
• Design interaction and hardware integration between software and Kinoped's robot.
• Collaborate with hardware team to ensure robust data exchange and UX.

Overview

You'll join the team developing the VR side of the Kinoped: scenes that guide users through exercises while exchanging live data with the machine in real time. The work is part interaction design, part hardware integration — both how a scene feels and how cleanly it talks to the robot.

Required Qualifications

• Proficiency with Unity (C#) or Unreal (C++/Blueprints)
• Experience developing for VR headsets (e.g., Meta Quest), including interaction and controller input
• Experience integrating external real-time data into a scene over sockets or messaging
• Strong grasp of 3D math: transforms, coordinate frames, and vectors

Preferred Qualifications

• Connecting VR/XR applications to external hardware or robotics
• Messaging systems for live data (ZeroMQ, ROS2)
• OpenXR, XR Interaction Toolkit, or equivalent interaction frameworks
• Background in rehabilitation, fitness, serious games, or biofeedback
