The English Department is looking to hire a Part-Time Writing Assistant to perform the following responsibilities.

Responsibilities
  • Assistants will interact with all students in the class(es) in which they are embedded during the semester. These interactions can happen in a variety of ways including scheduling meetingson the Writing Place schedule and consultations during class. Professors will require their students to meet with their tutor for at least one assignment in the semester.
  • Assistants work a total of 5-10 hours per week and work with 1-2 College Writing I or College Writing II courses. Part of the time is spent attending classes, participating in discussions, and consulting on drafts of papers. Another part of the time is working hours in the Writing Place holding consultations with students at the college on their writing.
  • Assistants will attend monthly check-ins with the Writing Place Coordinator and other Writing Assistants.
  • Additional meetings with students in individual and/or group settings are encouraged and left to the discretion of the professor, writing assistant and students.
  • Additional responsibilities (such as leading small groups in workshops and/or discussions) are encouraged and left to the discretion of the professor and writing assistant.
  • It is encouraged that the professor and writing assistant meet periodically throughout the semester to review plans and goals, check in with students and raise any concerns.
Requirements
  • Complete ENG 115- Writing Tutor Seminar with a grade of C or higher
