Summary

Consultants are responsible for providing one-on-one or group consulting in a supportive environment to students in all disciplines, in order to engage and empower them to become more competent academic and professional writers.

Essential Functions
  • Consultants are responsible for providing one-on-one or group consulting in a supportive environment to students in all disciplines, in order to engage and empower them to become more competent academic and professional writers
  • Teaching in a one-on-one setting is integral to the position, although there is no requirement for teaching beyond the duties of the Writing Center
  • Performs other duties as assigned
Required Qualifications
Education and Experience/Training
  • Master’s Degree from an accredited college or university (English degrees preferred)
  • Demonstrated writing consultation experience in a tutorial or instructional setting
  • Experience working with community college students

Physical Demands/Working Conditions

  • The work is performed in a normal, professional office environment.
  • The work area is adequately lighted, heated and ventilated.
  • The employee may sit comfortably to perform the duties of the job and may perform repetitive motions with hands/fingers using a computer mouse and keyboard to type. However, there will be walking; standing; bending; stooping; and carrying of various items and equipment.
  • Work may also require walking and standing in conjunction with travel to and attendance at meetings and conferences away from the worksite.

Set-Rate Non-Bargaining Part-Time Position: This is a Part-Time Non-Bargaining Unit Position, with the following Set Rate of Pay: $20.91/ hour.
