Job summary

The Wrestling - Assistant Coach - Girls (50%) position is part of the school athletic program and supports student athletes in developing skill, discipline and sportsmanship while promoting self-esteem. The role involves leading practices, coaching accordingly, and coordinating with the athletic director on schedules.

The coach will supervise safety, enforce sportsmanship, maintain records, and communicate with families.

Responsibilities

• Coaches individual participants in the skills necessary for excellent achievement in the sport involved.
• Plans and schedules a regular program of practice in season.
• Works closely with the athletic director in the scheduling of intramural and interscholastic contests.
• Recommends purchase of equipment, supplies, and uniforms, as appropriate.
• Maintains necessary attendance forms, insurance records, and similar paperwork.
• Oversees the safety conditions of the facility or area in which assigned sport is conducted at all times that students are present.
• Establishes performance criteria for eligibility in interscholastic competition in the coach's sport.
• Enforces discipline and sportsmanlike behavior at all times, and establishes and oversees penalties for breach of such standards by the individual students.
• Maintains communication with parents & parent organizations.

REPORTS TO:

Athletic Director/Principal

JOB GOAL:

To help each participating student achieve a high level of skill, an appreciation for the values of discipline and sportsmanship, and an increased level of self-esteem.

Performance of this job is evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board's policy on Evaluation of Professional Personnel.

ADDITIONAL WORKING CONDITIONS:

• Occasional exposure to blood, bodily fluids and tissue.
• Excellent observation and communication skills
• May perform strenuous tasks, such as lifting, when working with students.
