Job summary

Educational Service Center of Central Ohio seeks an Assistant Coach to support student athletes, develop sport skills, and foster discipline and teamwork.

The role reports to the Athletic Director/Principal and requires a Bachelor's degree, Ohio certification/licensure, and a Pupil Activity Supervisor Permit. Expect regular evening/weekend commitments and responsible supervision of facilities and safety.

Responsibilities

• Coaches individual participants in the skills necessary for athletic achievement.
• Plans and schedules a regular program of practice in season.
• Works closely with the athletic director in scheduling intramural and interscholastic contests.
• Recommends purchase of equipment, supplies, and uniforms as appropriate.
• Maintains attendance forms, insurance records, and similar paperwork.
• Oversees safety conditions of the facility when students are present.
• Establishes performance criteria for eligibility in interscholastic competition.
• Enforces discipline and sportsmanship, and oversees penalties for breaches by students.
• Maintains communication with parents & parent organizations.

REPORTS TO:

Athletic Director/Principal

JOB GOAL:

To help each participating student achieve a high level of skill, an appreciation for the values of discipline and sportsmanship, and an increased level of self-esteem.

Performance Responsibilities

• Coaches individual participants in the skills necessary for excellent achievement in the sport involved.
• Plans and schedules a regular program of practice in season.
• Works closely with the athletic director in the scheduling of intramural and interscholastic contests.
• Recommends purchase of equipment, supplies, and uniforms, as appropriate.
• Maintains necessary attendance forms, insurance records, and similar paperwork.
• Oversees the safety conditions of the facility or area in which assigned sport is conducted at all times that students are present.
• Establishes performance criteria for eligibility in interscholastic competition in the coach's sport.
• Enforces discipline and sportsmanlike behavior at all times, and establishes and oversees penalties for breach of such standards by the individual students.
• Maintains communication with parents & parent organizations.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT

Salary and work year as established by the Board and terms of contract.

Performance of this job is evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board's policy on Evaluation of Professional Personnel.
