Job summary

The Educational Service Center of Central Ohio is seeking a Head Coach to lead and develop student-athletes in line with district policies. You will hold an Ohio coaching certification and a bachelor’s degree, with responsibilities including planning practices, coordinating contests, and ensuring safety and discipline at all times.

The role requires frequent communication with parents and the athletic director, plus oversight of equipment and uniforms.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree is required.
• Valid Ohio certification/licensure is required.
• Pupil Activity Supervisor Permit is required.
• Alternative qualifications may be acceptable as determined by the Board.

Responsibilities

• Coaches individual participants in the skills necessary for excellent achievement in the sport involved.
• Plans and schedules a regular program of practice in season.
• Works closely with the athletic director in the scheduling of intramural and interscholastic contests.
• Recommends purchase of equipment, supplies, and uniforms, as appropriate.
• Maintains necessary attendance forms, insurance records, and similar paperwork.
• Oversees the safety conditions of the facility or area in which assigned sport is conducted at all times that students are present.
• Establishes performance criteria for eligibility in interscholastic competition in the coach’s sport.
• Enforces discipline and sportsmanlike behavior at all times, and establishes and oversees penalties for breach of such standards by the individual students.
• Maintains communication with parents & parent organizations.

REPORTS TO:

Athletic Director/Principal

To help each participating student achieve a high level of skill, an appreciation for the values of discipline and sportsmanship, and an increased level of self-esteem.

Salary and work year as established by the Board and terms of contract.

Performance of this job is evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board’s policy on Evaluation of Professional Personnel.
