Job summary

Educational Service Center of Central Ohio seeks a Head Coach to lead the athletic program, guiding student-athletes to develop sport-specific skills, discipline, teamwork, and healthy self-esteem. Qualifications include a valid Ohio certification/licensure and a Bachelor's degree; the Board may consider alternatives.

Reports to the Athletic Director/Principal. Salary and contract terms are established by the Board.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required.
• Valid Ohio certification/licensure required.
• Alternatives to the above qualifications may be acceptable per the Board.

Responsibilities

• Coaches individual participants in the skills necessary for excellent achievement in the sport involved.
• Plans and schedules a regular program of practice in season.
• Works closely with the athletic director in the scheduling of intramural and interscholastic contests.
• Recommends purchase of equipment, supplies, and uniforms, as appropriate.
• Maintains necessary attendance forms, insurance records, and similar paperwork.
• Oversees the safety conditions of the facility or area in which assigned sport is conducted at all times that students are present.
• Establishes performance criteria for eligibility in interscholastic competition in the coach’s sport.
• Enforces discipline and sportsmanlike behavior at all times, and establishes and oversees penalties for breach of such standards by the individual students.
• Maintains communication with parents & parent organizations.

Performance of this job is evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board’s policy on Evaluation of Professional Personnel.
