Job summary

The Salvation Army North & Central Illinois Division invites applications for a Music Ministry Instructor for the Let the Music Begin program. You will work with children and adults in Corps and community, teaching theory and performance across brass, voice, guitar, piano, ukulele, and other arts, to support worship and creative arts ministry.

Requirements include at least 2 years of teaching experience, proficiency in music theory and a primary instrument, and a Bachelor’s degree or progress

Qualifications

• A minimum of 2 years music experience working with children/adults.
• Bachelor's degree preferred, or working towards a degree in music, or extensive experience teaching music.
• Proficiency in music theory and in a primary instrument.
• Performance experience is preferred.
• Valid Driver's license/MVR clearance.

Responsibilities

• Educate and train future leaders in Music and Creative Arts ministry.
• Teach and spread the Gospel through music and creative arts to youth.
• Begin each class with a prayer and a scriptural verse.
• Lead or assist in music or arts programs in schools/Corps as assigned.
• Plan LTMB recitals and prep the corps music program for LTMB concert.
• Encourage participants to develop musical abilities and self-esteem.
• Ensure music activities heighten the Corps' community awareness.
• Promote attendance at summer camps and spiritual growth.
• Gain knowledge of Salvation Army music and programs.
• Maintain professional communication and a positive work atmosphere.
• Adhere to Safe from Harm policies.
• All other duties as assigned.
