Job summary

Barrow Brain and Spine, a physician-owned neurosurgery and spine care practice in Phoenix, seeks a care coordinator to perform clerical and patient-facing duties in a high-volume clinical setting.

You will register patients, manage appointments, document vital information, and coordinate with physicians and staff to ensure seamless patient care, while upholding HIPAA guidelines and confidentiality.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required; bachelor's degree a plus.
• 1-2 years of medical setting experience.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Strong organizational skills and ability to prioritize.
• Commitment to patient privacy and HIPAA guidelines.

Responsibilities

• Registers new patients in the EMR prior to scheduling, with demographic and insurance data.
• Performs clerical and customer service functions for the physician's office.
• Ensures all initial consultations, notes, labs, radiology and pathology are available to the physician prior to arrival.
• Opens chart encounters in AthenaOne and maintains patient records.
• Greet patients, room them, take vitals, and record assessments.
• Enter orders, E-Prescribe information, and create visit summaries.
• Schedule follow-up appointments and coordinate with staff to ensure continuity of care.
• Maintain confidentiality and HIPAA compliance.
• Support compliance program and act as ambassador of the practice.
