Job summary

SEIU Committee of Interns and Residents (CIR) is seeking a Worksite Organizer to build a strong CIR presence in the Boston hospital worksite. You will recruit and develop member leaders, coordinate campaigns, and advance the collective bargaining agreement with a focus on improving working conditions and member engagement.

Qualifications

• Previous union or other organizing experience preferred.
• Ability to develop member leaders, strategize solutions, and build power in the workplace.
• Commitment to social justice and the organizing model of unionism.
• Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to manage conflict and work in adversarial situations.
• Proven ability to work as part of a team and independently.
• Strong planning and time management skills.
• Proficiency with Google Suite, WhatsApp, Slack, VAN and related tools.
• Must have a valid driver’s license.
• Willingness to work irregular hours and be in the field for assignments.
• Basic computer literacy (word processing, spreadsheets, databases).
• Vaccination as per CDC guidelines is a condition of employment.
• Must reside in the Boston area.
• Commitment to ongoing self-reflection and professional development.

Responsibilities

• Develop and execute campaigns on workplace issues across hospital sites.
• Identify, recruit, train, and support delegates and worksite leaders.
• Meet annual membership recruitment and PAC goals at each chapter.
• Engage members in union activities and campaigns.
• Build worksite structures for communication and leadership development.
• Support delegates in using grievance procedures to enforce contracts.
• Participate in community coalitions and organizing campaigns.
• Prepare and manage work plans, calendars, and records as directed.
• Work effectively in a labor-management partnership environment.
