Job summary

Build-A-Bear Workshop is seeking an Assistant Workshop Manager to support the store manager in operations, guest service, staff management, and execution of sales and marketing strategies. You will lead with the Experience First culture, coach Bear Builders, and ensure a cohesive store environment.

The role emphasizes teamwork, accountability, and the ability to adapt in a dynamic retail setting, with responsibilities spanning scheduling, training, and inventory control.

Qualifications

• 2 years of store management experience in a customer-centric retail environment.
• High school diploma.
• Basic understanding of POS, scheduling, HRIS and time/attendance systems.
• Preferred: 2–4 years store management in specialty retail.
• Associate's degree in business, management or related field preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Chief Workshop Manager with daily assignments and directing work for associates.
• Assist in hiring decisions, feedback, and staff development.
• Lead shifts, enforce policies, and manage store security and cash handling.
• Drive sales as Floor Leader and create a guest experience aligned with Experience First.
• Maintain brand-standard merchandising displays and store layout.
• Oversee inventory receiving, stocking, and counts.
• Help build a high-performing team delivering a superior guest experience.
