The Workship – Writing Center Tutor position in Instructional Support Services is responsible for tutoring Troy University students in writing improvement. Job description

The Workship – Writing Center Tutor position in Instructional Support Services is responsible for tutoring Troy University students in writing improvement.

Minimum Qualifications

• 1. Must be a current Troy University student enrolled at least half-time.
• 2. GPA of 3.0 or higher
• 3. Completion of English 1101/1102 or 1103/1104, earning at least a B in each course
• 4. One recommendation from English faculty
• 5. Good interpersonal communication skills
• 6. Commitment to the goals and objectives of the Writing Center
• 7. Excellent writing skills as evidenced in application essay
• 8. Willingness to help actively promote Learning Center services, events, and activities.

Please note: Student positions are FICA /Medicare exempt only if students are enrolled in classes in the semester work is performed. To qualify for the FICA /Medicare exemption, you must be enrolled on a half-time basis for the Fall, Spring, or Summer.

Preferred Qualifications

• 1. Knowledge of APA Style, MLA Style, and/or other writing formats to help students avoid plagiarism issues
• 2. Online and in-person tutoring experience
