Job summary

Troy University seeks a part-time tutor to support student-athletes through the Office of Student-Athlete Services. Tutoring will occur in the Athletic Academic Center on the 3rd floor of Hawkins Tower.

Candidates must be a current Trojan student with a 3.0 GPA or higher and a solid grasp of the subject matter. Knowledge of NCAA rules is essential, and compliance is required. Employment is contingent on a background check and adherence to university policies.

Qualifications

• Must be a current Troy University student.
• GPA of 3.0 or above.
• FICA/Medicare tax exemption applies if enrolled half-time for the relevant terms.

Responsibilities

• Provide tutoring to student-athletes as appointed by the Office of Student-Athlete Services.
• Adhere to NCAA rules and regulations in tutoring activities.
• Coordinate with the Athletic Academic Center for scheduling and meetings.

Job description

This position will allow for individuals to provide tutoring services to student-athletes as appointed through the Office of Student-Athlete Services. All tutoring appointments will take place in the Athletic Academic Center on the 3rd floor of the R. Douglas Hawkins Tower. As a tutor for the Office of Student-Athlete Services, it is imperative that tutors have a working understanding of NCAA rules and regulations as they apply to involvement with student-athletes. Failure to comply with NCAA regulations will automatically lead to the termination of your employment. If you have any questions regarding NCAA rules and how they apply to your tutorial activities, please contact the Office of Student-Athlete Services immediately.

Minimum Qualifications

1. Must be a current Troy University student
2. Must be knowledgeable in the subject matter area as well as producing a GPA of a 3.0 or above.
Please note: Student positions are FICA /Medicare tax exempt only if students are enrolled in classes in the semester work is performed. To qualify for the FICA /Medicare tax exemption, you must be enrolled on a half-time basis for the Fall, Spring, and/or Summer.
