Job summary

Travelers seeks a Counsel to handle a caseload of predominantly low to moderate complexity, delivering high-quality defense litigation for insured customers. You will manage cases from inception through trial and appeal and provide proactive, strategic guidance to claims partners.

The ideal candidate has 3+ years of insurance defense experience, strong written and oral advocacy, and the ability to build trusted relationships with clients and colleagues. Occasional travel is required.

Qualifications

• Juris Doctorate or equivalent degree required.
• Active license to practice law in the state(s) where representation is required.
• 2 years of experience as a practicing attorney.
• Regularly handles hearings, trials, dispositive motions, depositions, or other court proceedings.

Responsibilities

• Develop and apply litigation skills to try cases to verdict or negotiate resolution.
• Conduct legal research and demonstrate strong legal writing and presentation skills.
• Draft pleadings, motions, briefs, discovery and other documents.
• Attend court events, depositions, and other appointments.
• Provide case analysis and recommendations to insured clients and claim partners.
