Job summary

Jobot seeks a seasoned Workers' Compensation Defense Attorney in California to manage a full caseload from inception to resolution. You will develop defense strategies, conduct discovery, defend depositions, draft motions, and represent clients at hearings, mediations, and trials.

Ideal candidates have a JD, California Bar, and at least 3 years in WC defense, civil litigation, or employment law, with strong research, communication, and independent-work skills. Competitive salary offered.

Qualifications

• Juris Doctorate from an accredited law school.
• Admission to the California State Bar and in good standing.
• Minimum of 3 years of experience in workers' compensation defense, civil litigation, OR employment law.
• Proven track record of defending clients in workers' compensation cases.
• Strong knowledge of workers' compensation laws, civil litigation procedures, and employment laws.
• Experience with insurance coverage issues, fraud investigations, and labor law issues.
• Excellent legal research, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
• Strong oral and written communication skills; ability to explain complex legal concepts clearly.
• Ability to manage a high-volume caseload, meet deadlines, and work independently.
• Proficiency in legal research software and Microsoft Office Suite.

Responsibilities

• Manage a caseload of workers' compensation cases from inception through resolution.
• Develop and implement defense strategies, conduct discovery, take and defend depositions, draft and argue motions, and represent clients at hearings, mediations, and trials.
• Conduct legal research and provide legal analysis on complex issues related to workers' compensation, employment law, labor law, and insurance coverage.
• Handle all aspects of civil litigation, including drafting pleadings, conducting discovery, and representing clients in court.
• Investigate and defend against fraud claims.
• Advise clients on employment law issues, including wrongful termination, harassment, and ADA compliance.
• Assist in development and revision of employee handbooks to ensure compliance with state and federal laws.
• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of changes in workers' compensation laws and regulations.
• Provide exceptional customer service to clients, including timely updates on case status and legal advice in understandable terms.
• Collaborate with other attorneys, paralegals, and support staff to ensure efficient and effective case management.
