Job summary

CopperPoint Insurance Companies is seeking a Workers Compensation Production Underwriter to manage an agency territory and underwriting book with emphasis on profitable growth and renewal retention.

You will lead new business development, risk selection, pricing, and agency relationships within delegated authority while partnering with underwriting leadership and agency partners to execute territory strategies and achieve business objectives.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree preferred in business, finance, insurance, risk management, marketing or related field
• Minimum 3–5 years of commercial property and casualty underwriting experience, workers compensation preferred
• Experience managing agency relationships, producer pipelines, and territory plans preferred
• Professional insurance designation (CPCU/ARM/AU/CIC) preferred but not required
• Strong technical knowledge of workers compensation underwriting and pricing

Responsibilities

• Owns assigned agency territory and book of business with focus on profitable growth
• Evaluates workers compensation submissions including class codes, exposures and payroll
• Underwrites within authority and escalates risks beyond authority
• Prices new and renewal business per guidelines balancing growth and profitability
• Develops agency partnership plans and manages pipeline and profitability
• Conducts regular agency visits and producer meetings to communicate strategy and expectations
• Identifies opportunities to expand profitable workers compensation production
• Presents proposals detailing underwriting decisions and pricing to agency personnel
• Maintains knowledge of territory production sources, competitors, and regulatory trends
• Collaborates with claims, loss control, audit, and operations to support portfolio quality
• Provides excellent service with accurate documentation and adherence to policies
