Job summary

BerkleyNet, an innovative workers’ compensation insurer, seeks an experienced claims professional in Virginia to investigate, reserve, and resolve workers’ compensation claims. You will handle settings from investigation to settlement, coordinate medical treatment, and ensure regulatory compliance.

Requirements include 3–5 years of workers’ compensation experience, strong communication skills, and the ability to work independently across departments.

Responsibilities

• Investigate workers’ compensation claims by interviewing injured workers, witnesses, and policyholders to verify coverage and determine benefits.
• Calculate and set timely financial reserves and manage reserve adequacy throughout the claim lifecycle.
• Record and code demographics and accident information in the claims system and file forms with state regulators.
• Issue timely payments to injured workers, medical providers and vendors.
• Coordinate medical treatment to ensure timely rehabilitation.
• Negotiate settlements within authority with injured workers and attorneys.
• Serve as SME of the Workers’ Compensation Act and regulatory framework in assigned jurisdictions.
• Identify and manage subrogation and recovery opportunities.
• Communicate claim activity and status with policyholders and parties clearly and professionally.
• Notify management and develop reports for large exposure claims and reinsurance reporting.
