Advanced Orthopedics and Sports Medicine Institute in Freehold, NJ is seeking a Workers Compensation Support Coordinator to assist the Nurse Case Manager and maintain efficient patient flow from registration to discharge. The role emphasizes compassionate, professional patient communication and collaboration with insurers and care teams.

The position requires 3–5 years in healthcare (orthopedics preferred), strong customer service, and the ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• Authorized to work in the US without sponsorship.
• Must possess strong customer service skills.
• 3-5 years experience in a health care organization with preferred orthopedic experience.

Responsibilities

• Triage and manage calls from patients, families, insurers, facilities, adjusters, nurse case managers, employers and attorneys.
• Schedule patient appointments including obtaining adjuster authorization for NJ claims and confirming claims are open and active; assist with creating WC intake forms.
• Document initial work comp intake information (date of injury, authorized body part, employer information).
• Manage patient tracking and notify relevant parties when appointments are missed or rescheduled.
• Create invoices and obtain authorization for DME, injections, and procedures; coordinate with billing.
• Provide Need for Treatment and operative reports to insurance personnel, and share completed work comp documents and physician notes with nurse case managers/insurers.
• Confirm authorization for diagnostic testing with insurers and schedule follow-ups after imaging.
• Maintain the patient registry and ensure current patient status.
• Collaborate with attorneys to obtain treatment authorizations and relevant documents.
• Create electronic medical notes including general notes and telephone encounters.
• Serve as liaison between patient, provider, and insurance carrier/nurse case manager.
• Attend conferences and in-services to promote the workers' compensation department.
• Work to enhance processes supporting department growth.
• Perform other duties as assigned by management.
