Job Description:
Position Summary
The TRIOStudent Support Services (SSS) Student Assistant serves as a student ambassadorfor the program by providing front-line customer service, supporting studentengagement initiatives, assisting with program events and workshops, andhelping maintain the program's social media presence. This position offersvaluable leadership experience while ensuring that TRIO participants receive awelcoming and supportive experience.
The StudentAssistant also provides a student perspective in program planning anddevelopment to help ensure activities and services meet the needs and interestsof TRIO students.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Front Desk and Student Engagement
- Greet students, visitors, and guests in a friendlyand professional manner.
- Serve as the first point of contact for studentsentering the TRIO office.
- Answer basic questions regarding TRIO services,events, and resources.
- Assist students with scheduling appointments andconnecting with TRIO staff.
- Maintain a welcoming and organized officeenvironment.
- Monitor student traffic and assist with sign-inprocedures.
Social Media and Communications
- Assist with creating and posting content on TRIO SSSsocial media platforms.
- Develop student-centered content including photos,videos, testimonials, and event promotions.
- Promote TRIO activities, workshops, scholarships,transfer opportunities, and student success stories.
- Help maintain a consistent and positive TRIO brandimage.
- Collaborate with staff to increase student engagementthrough digital communications.
Program and Event Support
- Assist with planning, setup, execution, and cleanupof TRIO workshops, events, transfer visits, and special programs.
- Help prepare materials and supplies for events andstudent activities.
- Support student check-in and attendance trackingduring programs.
- Assist with outreach efforts including tabling,recruitment events, and information sessions.
- Encourage student participation in TRIO activitiesand services.
Student Leadership and Program Input
- Provide feedback on student interests, concerns, andemerging needs.
- Participate in brainstorming and planning sessionsfor student activities and events.
- Serve as a student voice to help shape engaging andrelevant programming.
- Assist in identifying creative ways to increasestudent involvement and program visibility.
Administrative Support
- Perform basic clerical tasks such as filing, copying,data entry, and organizing materials.
- Assist with inventory of office and event supplies.
- Maintain confidentiality of student records andinformation in accordance with FERPA guidelines.
- Complete other duties as assigned by the ProgramManager.

Physical Requirements
- Ability to sit or stand for extended periods.
- Ability to lift and carry materials up to 25 poundsfor event setup and office operations.
