Los Alamos National Laboratory is seeking a Work Execution Manager to lead the MSS-TA55 work execution team, directing facility maintenance, work control, and predictive maintenance in a 24/7 environment. You will partner with the Maintenance Manager to uphold safety and efficiency while driving cost-saving initiatives.
The role requires a BS in engineering with 5 years of related experience (DOE 426.2A provides substitution options).
As the Work Execution Manager (WEM) for this organization, you will provide technical leadership and management for the MSS-TA55 work execution team, ensuring world‑class maintenance standards. You will oversee facility maintenance, and work management activities, including installation and modifications, corrective, preventative, and predictive maintenance in a 24‑hour/7‑day manufacturing work environment. You may be required to work alternate shifts to support plant operations. You will work closely with the Maintenance Manager and the work management team to manage facilities that support the 30PPY mission with ALDWP. You will ensure compliance with safety regulations and company policies, identify opportunities for process improvements and cost‑saving initiatives, and assist with developing effective maintenance programs. Your strong technical knowledge and experience in facility maintenance and engineering, coupled with excellent communication and interpersonal skills, will enable you to effectively manage a team of superintendents, technicians, and skilled workers to provide facilities that are reliable, efficient, and safe.
Facility Management: Extensive knowledge of and experience with facility or project management including systems engineering design and maintenance; safety/authorization basis; configuration management programs; work control; facility control systems; major construction projects; and upgrades and renovations. Extensive experience with government regulations affecting facility maintenance and project management.
Maintenance Operations: Extensive knowledge of and experience with facility and site work hazards, safety practices, operating configuration, and lock‑out/tag‑out policies and procedures. Demonstrated experience and ability to understand and interpret various physical, mechanical, and electrical documents, blueprints, drawings, and schematics. Demonstrated experience and skill in identifying problem areas, investigating alternative solutions, and determining action to be performed on problems affecting performance.
Leadership: Demonstrated experience and skill in management, supervision, and human resources administration of assigned employees. Demonstrated experience and skill in developing and implementing organizational strategies and objectives. Demonstrated ability to provide strong leadership, mentorship, prioritization, and management of assigned employees in a collaborative and participative environment to build strong teams.
Education/Experience: Position requires a Bachelor's Degree from an accredited institution and 5 years related experience; or, an equivalent combination of education and experience directly related to the occupation.
DOE Order 426.2A Minimum Requirements: Position requires a bachelor of science degree in engineering or related science, and 4 years nuclear experience. Education or experience that is job related may be substituted on a case‑by‑case basis. The degree may be used to substitute up to 50 percent of the experience requirement.
Essential Job Functions (can perform with or without reasonable accommodation): Walking and lifting 20-30 pounds.
Work Location: The work location for this position is onsite and located in Los Alamos, NM. All work locations are at the discretion of management.
Position Commitment: Regular appointment employees are required to serve a period of continuous service in their current position in order to be eligible to apply for posted jobs throughout the Laboratory. If an employee has not served the time required, they may only apply for Laboratory jobs with the documented approval of their Division Leader. The position commitment for this position is 1 year.
Clearance: Q (Position will be cleared to this level). Selected applicants will be subject to a background investigation conducted by or on behalf of the Federal Government, and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified matter. This position requires a Q clearance and obtaining such clearance requires U.S. citizenship except in extremely rare circumstances. Dependent upon the position, additional authorization to access classified information may be required, which may or may not be available to dual citizens. Receipt of a Q clearance and additional access authorization ultimately is a decision of the Federal Government and not of Triad.
Eligibility requirements: To obtain a clearance, an individual must be at least 18 years of age; U.S. citizenship is required except in very limited circumstances. See DOE Order 472.2 for additional information.
