As the Work Execution Manager (WEM), you will provide technical leadership and day-to-day management for the MSS-WFO work execution team. This is a highly visible opportunity to shape maintenance strategy, strengthen operational performance, and uphold world-class standards in a fast-paced, mission-critical environment.
You will oversee facility maintenance and work management activities supporting various weapons programs, including installations and modifications, corrective maintenance, and preventive and predictive maintenance. Working closely with the Maintenance Manager and the broader WFO Facility Operations and Maintenance management teams, you will ensure work is planned, coordinated, and executed safely, efficiently, and in alignment with operational priorities.

Facility & Project Management: Extensive knowledge of and experience with facility or project management, including systems engineering, design and maintenance, safety and authorization basis, configuration management, work control, and facility control systems. Extensive experience supporting major construction projects, facility upgrades, renovations, and system modifications. Extensive knowledge of government regulations and requirements affecting facility maintenance and project management.
Maintenance Operations: Extensive knowledge of facility and site work hazards, safe work practices, operating configurations, and lockout/tagout policies and procedures. Demonstrated ability to read, understand, and interpret mechanical, electrical, and physical-system documents, including blueprints, drawings, and schematics. Demonstrated success identifying performance issues, evaluating alternative solutions, and determining effective corrective actions. Strong technical knowledge of facility maintenance, engineering, and work execution in complex operating environments.
Leadership & Team Development: Demonstrated experience managing and supervising employees, including responsibility for human resources administration. Demonstrated ability to develop and implement organizational strategies, priorities, and objectives. Proven success providing clear direction, mentorship, prioritization, and performance management. Ability to lead in a collaborative and participative environment while building strong, capable, and accountable teams. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively across technical, operational, and management organizations.
Education/Experience: Position requires a Bachelor's Degree from an accredited institution and 5 years related experience; or, an equivalent combination of education and experience directly related to the occupation.
DOE Order 426.2A Minimum Requirements: Position requires a bachelor of science degree in engineering or related science, and 4 years nuclear experience. Education or experience that is job related may be substituted on a case-by-case basis. The degree may be used to substitute up to 50 percent of the experience requirement.
Essential Job Functions (can perform with or without reasonable accommodation): Walking and lifting 20-30 pounds.
The work location for this position is onsite and located in Los Alamos, NM. All work locations are at the discretion of management.
Regular appointment employees are required to serve a period of continuous service in their current position in order to be eligible to apply for posted jobs throughout the Laboratory. If an employee has not served the time required, they may only apply for Laboratory jobs with the documented approval of their Division Leader. The position commitment for this position is 1 year.

Clearance: Q (Position will be cleared to this level). Selected applicants will be subject to a background investigation conducted by or on behalf of the Federal Government, and must meet eligibility requirements* for access to classified matter. This position requires a Q clearance, and obtaining such clearance requires US Citizenship except in extremely rare circumstances. Dependent upon the position, additional authorization to access classified information may be required, which may or may not be available to dual citizens. Receipt of a Q clearance and additional access authorization ultimately is a decision of the Federal Government and not of Triad.
Eligibility requirements: To obtain a clearance, an individual must be at least 18 years of age; U.S. citizenship is required except in very limited circumstances. See DOE Order 472.2 for additional information.
426.2A: This position is subject to DOE Order 426.2A, Personnel Selection, Training, and Qualification Requirements for DOE Nuclear Facilities, which establishes entry-level requirements to ensure candidates selected for specific positions can successfully perform the requirements of the job.
New-Employment Drug Test: The Laboratory requires successful applicants to complete a new-employment drug test and maintains a substance abuse policy that includes random drug testing. Although New Mexico and other states have legalized the use of marijuana, use and possession of marijuana remain illegal under federal law. A positive drug test for marijuana will result in termination of employment, even if the use was pre-offer.
Incentive Compensation Program: Position is eligible to participate in the Triad Incentive Compensation Program. You must be in an eligible position for a minimum of 3 months, before July 1st and remain in an eligible position as of the end of the fiscal year, September 30th. The annual distribution is prorated based on the number of months in the eligible position.
