Job summary

Care For the Homeless is seeking a Housing Specialist to manage a comprehensive program of support, safety, and success for women, including housing, counseling, entitlements, program placement, health and education programs, and case management.

The role involves assessing housing history, identifying resources, maintaining records, coordinating contracts, referrals, and ensuring compliance with DHS timeframes. Flexible hours and driving may be required.

Qualifications

• Two (2) plus years’ experience working with mentally ill, medically frail or homeless population.
• Experience working with housing entitlements.
• Exceptional knowledge of regional housing, supportive housing, Section 8 and other rental assistance programs.
• Valid drivers license (Preferred)

Responsibilities

• Assess housing history and independent living skills of clients.
• Help clients identify negative credit history that may impact apartment search or issues with brokers and landlords.
• Identify available housing resources and maintain an up-to-date directory of these resources.
• Conduct meetings focusing on tenants’ rights, home maintenance/upkeep, and landlord/tenant relationships.
• Maintain required case records in written and computer generated forms, and report in supervisory meetings.
