S:US in Manhattan seeks a Housing Specialist for a womens shelter, focusing on linking clients with housing providers and delivering supportive services to prepare for permanent housing. The role is based at West 135th Street, NY 10030 and involves counseling, referrals, and escorting clients through housing applications.

Please note that the position requires a High School Diploma or GED, two years in human services, and strong interpersonal and computer skills.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Two years in human services field and knowledge of trauma.
• Good interpersonal skill set, able to work independently and still function as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
• Solid computer skills and working knowledge of Microsoft.

Responsabilités

• Establish linkages and maintain solid working relationships with supportive housing providers, real estate brokers, managing agents, and landlords as a resource for consumers.
• Provide supportive social services including individual and group counseling, workshops, education, referrals, and escorting in an effort to prepare consumers for successfully securing and maintaining permanent housing.
• Prepare and assist consumers with the housing application/interview process.
