Job summary

Professional Recruiting Consultants, Inc. seeks a Technical Designer to join our client’s growing team in New York. You will develop technical documentation, run live-model fit sessions, and partner with design, product development, and production to ensure quality, fit, and construction align with brand standards.

The role emphasizes accurate tech packs, BOM management, and proactive problem solving to balance aesthetics, functionality, and manufacturability.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Fashion Design, Technical Design, or related field.
• 3–5 years of Technical Design experience within the apparel industry.
• Experience with women's apparel; outerwear or activewear preferred.
• Proficient in Adobe Illustrator and CAD software.
• Strong knowledge of garment construction, patternmaking, grading, and fit evaluation.
• Exceptional attention to detail with strong measurement and grading accuracy.
• Effective written and verbal communication across teams and vendors.
• Ability to prioritize multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain tech packs with sketches, measurements, grading, construction details, and specs.
• Create and manage BOMs, packaging requirements, care/content labels, carton markings, and related docs.
• Conduct and participate in fit sessions using live models.
• Analyze fit and communicate revisions to vendors and internal teams.
• Review prototypes, fit samples, and pre-production garments with pattern makers.
• Ensure samples meet standards for fit, quality, construction, and design intent.
• Identify development challenges and propose practical design-to-production solutions.
• Collaborate with Design, Product Development, Production and external partners.
• Help ensure projects stay aligned with timelines, quality expectations, and brand standards.
• Utilize fabrics, trims, garment construction, and manufacturing techniques to support execution.
