Job summary

Our client in New York seeks a Technical Designer to develop tech packs, manage BOMs, and lead fit sessions across women's apparel from concept to production. This role demands meticulous attention to detail, strong collaboration, and the ability to translate design intent into precise construction and documentation.

You will partner with Design, Product Development, Production, and vendors to ensure quality, fit, and brand standards while maintaining timelines and cost objectives.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Fashion Design, Technical Design, or a related field.
• 3–5 years of Technical Design experience within the apparel industry.
• Experience with women's apparel; outerwear/activewear is a plus.
• Proficient in Adobe Illustrator and CAD software.
• Strong knowledge of garment construction, patternmaking, grading and fit evaluation.
• Excellent attention to detail and accurate measurements.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain detailed tech packs with sketches, measurements, grading and specs.
• Create and manage BOMs, packaging requirements, care labels, and related docs.
• Conduct and participate in fit sessions using live models.
• Analyze fit, communicate revisions clearly to vendors and teams.
• Review prototypes and pre-production garments with pattern makers.
• Ensure samples meet standards for fit, quality, and design intent.
• Identify construction challenges and propose practical solutions.
• Collaborate with Design, Product Development, Production and external partners.
• Keep projects aligned with timelines, quality expectations, and brand standards.
• Apply fabrics, trims, construction techniques to support development.
