As a Wireman I, you'll interpret engineering drawings, install and terminate wiring, assemble control panels, and troubleshoot electrical systems within Wayside houses. You'll work with a high degree of ownership and independence while supporting innovative rail and transportation solutions used every day.

What your day may look like:
  • Apply mechanical aptitude and blueprint-reading skills to assemble, wire, and install components and hardware in accordance with engineering drawings, specifications, and work instructions.
  • Perform wire termination, crimping, stripping, soldering, and other electrical assembly activities while identifying and resolving bill of material (BOM) and assembly print discrepancies.
  • Ensure product quality, safety, and compliance by following standardized work instructions, maintaining attention to detail, and proactively communicating issues that may impact quality, productivity, or safety.
  • Support a high-performing manufacturing environment by maintaining equipment, adhering to 5S standards, participating in cell meetings, and using visual management tools to monitor production goals and key performance indicators.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives by collaborating with team members, identifying opportunities to eliminate waste, improve processes, and support broader assembly and production requirements.

To thrive in this role, you have:
  • High school diploma.
  • Ability to train other operators in multiple areas within Operations.
  • Must be able to read work instructions, schematics, assembly drawings, and prints.
  • Must be able to understand the English language to understand verbal instructions.
  • Previous experience in Mechanical Assembly preferred.
  • Previous soldering skills may be required. (Training and Test will be provided)

The pay range for this position is $18.20 - $20.05 per hour. The actual wage offered may be lower or higher depending on budget and candidate experience, knowledge, skills, qualifications and premium geographic location.
